CANCELED--COVID-19 Join volunteer naturalists for a driving tour of some of Boulder County’s best areas to view birds of prey, or raptors. We will carpool from our meeting place searching for raptors, learning about habitat, and working on our observation and identification skills. Participants should dress for the weather, and bring lunch, drinking water, binoculars, a spotting scope, and a bird field guide if you have them. The tour is geared for adults and older children.

Maximum Participants: 15

I am an avid naturalist with an academic background (WAY back background) in ecology. I participate in citizen science projects, work on my native plant landscapes and am an active birder. Love to travel with horses and dogs.

VN Class of 2009 I find nature to be endlessly fascinating and love sharing my knowledge and leading interpretive hikes where I hope to inspire others in appreciation and stewardship of our precious wildlife and wild lands. In 1975 I moved to Boulder and learned about the flora and fauna of the area and hiked the Flatirons to the Divide. During 20 years on Kauai, HI , I volunteered at a Wildlife Refuge and Botanic Garden. Back to my beloved Colorado and sharing my passion for nature again!

I signed on to the BCPOS Volunteer Naturalist program in 2001, but, in reality, I have been a "naturalist" my entire life! Every aspect of the natural world intrigues me and, amazingly, it has the power to simultaneously lift me up in awe and take me to my knees in reverence and profound thankfulness! My interests are birds, native plants, geography and their related eponymy and over the last decade I have focused on the field identification and ecology of birds of prey.
