Volunteer Work Projects

Using native seeds in re-vegetation efforts is essential to restoring native plant diversity. Often times, however, native seeds are not available commercially, they are expensive, or the available seeds are not ecologically appropriate. Volunteers will help Boulder County restore disturbed lands by hand-collecting a variety of species, including grasses, sedges, wildflowers and shrubs. Local botanists will work on-site and provide identification of wildflowers and other native plants during the project. Minimum age is 6 with adult supervision. Staff continuously monitors seed development at a variety of open space areas, so the exact location of projects will be determined about four days before the project date.
