On September 6th, 2010, a human caused wildfire occurred in the Fourmile Canyon area of Boulder County which, over the course of a one-week period, burned 6,181 acres of forest land and destroyed 169 residences. Since that time, significant efforts have been made by private and public landowners to both mitigate post fire impacts and speed up recovery of burned areas. In 2013 volunteers planted 1750 ponderosa pine seedlings at the top of a severely burned drainage in order to augment and enhance tree recovery. This year we will be removing plastic caging from trees, re-staking trees, and removing planting materials from the worksite.
