In 2008, 40 acres of small patch cuts were implemented in the lodgepole forests south of Nederland to address forest health and fire issues in the area. Over the last 13 years, these areas have seen a flush of new aspen growth as well as abundant lodgepole pine regeneration. To promote and enhance these aspen stands, volunteers will use loppers and handsaws to remove competing lodgepole pines. The project will be in an area closed to the public so come and enjoy a beautiful property that most have never seen! PLEASE NOTE --Online waivers must be filled out prior to attending this project.
